The Ultimate Packing List for a Fall Myrtle Beach Vacation

Packing to go to the beach in the summer is easy. You know it’s going to be boiling so all you have to do is throw in some sunscreen, 5 swimsuits, a cover-up, some flops and you’re good to go. However, packing to go to the beach in the fall isn’t the same situation, at least if you’re going to the beach in the United States in late October.

I looked around for some ideas and realized there weren’t many lists or ideas as to how to pack for a late October getaway to the shores of Myrtle Beach so I decided to create one myself. Here’s how I’m packing and preparing for my Fall Myrtle Beach Vacation.

Let’s Pray For No Rain

The number one thing you need to do first is to check the forecast. This the first step in knowing what to prepare yourself for. The last thing you need is to roll up with a bunch of jeans and SURPRISE it’s going to be 80 degrees every day you’re there. For our trip, it’s looking like it’s going to be in the mid-70s which sounds about right for this time of year. With this in mind, here are some of the items I’ll be packing:

  • Light Jacket
  • Sweatshirt
  • Fuzzy socks
  • Sweatpants/joggers
  • Jeans
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Rain jacket
  • Blanket

It May Not be Summer but…

Just because it’s October doesn’t mean you skimp out on your summer necessities. The beach is going to be right there and that means this Indiana girl will be in it even if it is to freeze her butt off for some cute pics. Oh, and against contrary belief, you can still get sunburnt even though it’s not boiling or it’s cloudy. You’re going to need things like:

  • Swimsuit
  • Swimsuit Cover
  • Sunglasses
  • Beach bag
  • Sandals/Flip-flops
  • Cooler
  • Sunscreen
  • Aloe
  • Hat

Make a Plan

The million-dollar question: what are you going to be doing on your vacation? Kyle and I will be doing a variety of things including going to the beach, visiting botanical gardens, doing a little hiking, and much more. We’ll be there on Halloween! And we’ll be doing something special so I need an outfit for that too. With this in mind, I’m going to be packing some of the items below:

  • Leggings/workout shorts
  • Tanktop
  • Tennis shoes
  • Nice dress/outfit
  • Black Heels
  • Halloween Outfit
  • Camera/Camera bag
  • Mini Backpack
  • Jewelry
  • Masks
  • Tripod

Hodgepodge it Up

We like a bit of everything on this site don’t we? That’s the same way you should think about packing. Have a bit of everything when it comes to traveling to the coast in a rather up and downtime in temperature. And of course, make sure you have items to have a good time with. Some of mine will include:

  • Polaroid Camera
  • Phone Charger
  • Book
  • Headphones
  • Laptop

Don’t Forget the Basics

After you identify all of the stuff above, the rest comes down to basic packing know-how. You need to have everything you need to survive for however long you’re staying. I’ll be staying for a week and I like to overpack just in case, so that’s why I have so many things on my complete list. Some of my basics include:

  • Medicines
  • Undies
  • Bras/Sports Bras
  • Scrunchies/Headbands/Etc.
  • Pajamas
  • Phone charger
  • Socks
  • Bonnet
  • Feminine Products
  • Hair Stuff
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste

And most importantly…

Have fun! If you’re like me, you seriously need this vacation so really take this time to focus on yourself and bask in the blissful nothing you have to do. Bon voyage!
